Counselling and Psychotherapy to help your child or adolescent to live a happier life
Thank you for visiting my site. I know that this is the last place you want to be. However, please be assured that your child can be helped. There is hope and they can learn to resolve whatever it is which troubles them.
I have spent years working with tweens and adolescents / teenagers. I know that they can achieve their goals quite comfortably, when they have the right support. I’m now working with children of younger ages and find them to be just as capable of making changes happen.
I do appreciate how difficult it can be to ask for help. Nobody wants to see their child unhappy and it’s natural to feel helpless when nothing you can do seems to work.
Still, now you’ve taken this step it’s going to be worth reading a little further, in order to discover how counselling and psychotherapy could help your young person to shed their difficulties, exploit their strengths and achieve everything they’re capable of achieving.
Paul is an absolute star. I can’t express my gratitude enough for the change he has helped me realise in my life. (Google review)
Children can find counselling a transformative experience
They’re no different to us adults. When they feel secure in the therapist / client relationship and when their problems are approached with the right strategies they can experience changes just as profound as those seen in adults. Counselling could free your child from whatever it is which troubles them. Therapy could set them free!
There’s every reason for hope.
There are no guarantees but if a child or adolescent truly wishes to change and is willing to engage then it’s perfectly possible for them to do so. It might not always be easy. Progress, at times, can seem uneven and there may even be relapses. Change, however, is possible.
If you’d like to discuss how counselling and psychotherapy could help your son or daughter to thrive then just give me a call. I’ll be more than happy to talk with you.

‘Paul is invested in the recovery/empowerment of his clients and I was genuinely bowled over by the level of commitment Paul gives’ – Google Review.
They could learn to set themselves free from their problems.
I have spent years helping people to be free of issues surrounding self-esteem, anxiety, depression, OCD, performance anxieties, eating disorders, enuresis, encopresis, school-refusal and more.
The problems I work with might be a consequence of bullying, bereavement, disability, parental divorce and a whole lot more besides. Ultimately, however, children and adolescents can learn to think more highly of themselves, manage their emotions more effectively and set themselves free from things which once seemed completely insurmountable.
If you’d like your child to be happy again, to be free of their past and to be liberated from fear then please do consider giving me a call. You can ‘phone me on 07786 123736 or else email me at paul@resolvedcounsellingforchildren.com
‘He has a remarkable way of unraveling what is deep within and adjusting the way you look at things. He is a very understanding and calming person to be around and I think the word needs to be spread how fantastic he is! Thanks so much for everything Paul.’ – Google Review

If your child’s problem isn’t listed then give me a call anyway. The likelihood is that I will have worked with it, or something like it, before.
Things really needn’t stay as they are forever.
Children, just like adults, can come to see themselves far more critically than they deserve. Problems happen when people focus too heavily on weaknesses and fail to see how their strengths more than compensate.
Your child is special and their strengths will overcome their problems. I’ll be more than glad to show them how.
Former clients testify to how Resolved! Counselling for Children in Reading has helped them:
‘Paul helped me beyond explanation. His unique and personal approach to counselling via hypnotherapeutic techniques blew me away.’ – Google Review.
Perhaps I could be the one to help your child too
The children and teenagers I work with are all wonderful people who believe that they’re incapable of changing the way they think, feel or behave. This simply isn’t the case and I’ll be glad to help them to see it for themselves.
They have everything they need in order to succeed
Recent clients have learned to get themselves back into school, master nocturnal continence problems, build confidence, defeat OCD and eliminate their reliance on marijuana. I’ve worked with so many children and adolescents and yet I ever cease t be amazed at how inventive they become when they turn their strengths towards the search for a way out of their difficulties.
They are everything they need to be. Sometimes, however, they just need a little help in order to believe it.
They’ll be glad you brought them.
One of the greatest pleasures in my life is to say goodbye to my clients and to see them leave feeling more confident, happier in their own skins, healthy and smiling.
If you’d like your child to be one such person and are looking for effective therapy in Reading then please do get in touch. I’ll be glad to talk with you.
‘His approach was kind and caring and he used Mindfulness techniques of meditation which have been really effective – especially as he recorded these sessions and emailed them to me so that I could listen at home. I feel so much better! He was brilliant.’ – Google review.

I use a combination of approaches in order to help my clients progress.
I use a combination of counselling, psychotherapy, play therapy, sand-tray, puppets, music, mindfulness and hypnotherapy in order to help my young clients get to where they want to be. My office is fully equipped for a range of varied approaches and together your child and I will find the right solution for them.
Ethical, award winning and inventive therapy
Being UKCP registered means that I have undergone several years of training, undergo regular CPD and have frequent supervision sessions in order to ensure that my therapy is as effective as it can possibly be. I’m already a well-established psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, working in Reading, Oxford and online. Many of my adult and teenage clients come to me through recommendations and that’s now beginning to happen with my child clients too. You can read more about my established therapy practice by visiting www.resolvedhypnotherapy.co.uk.
Whilst training as a psychotherapist I won two national awards. I became a trainer myself, for a while, and then chose to concentrate more fully on what I love best: being present with my clients in my own fully equipped, comfortable and welcoming office.
When I was a teacher (and now, as a therapist) I believe that my greatest strength was my ability to build relationships with people. Many of my young clients tell me they feel sad to finish working with me. They appreciate that I have valued them and helped them to become more resilient, more self-accepting and happier in their own selves.
Yesterday a six year old client threw their arms around me when it was time to say goodbye. I never stop being glad that I chose to train to work in this field.
I look forward to meeting your own young person and helping them to leave their fears, worries and difficulties behind them.

Opening Hours: Monday-Friday: 09.00-20.00. Saturday: 09.00-20.00.
Location: Suite 1, Holybrook House, 63 Castle St, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 7SN.
Generally speaking, parents or guardians remain present at the beginning of the first session, in order to help the child or adolescent to settle in. They then decamp outside of the office where they and their child can feel safe in their proximity whilst leaving myself and the client free to work in a confidential setting. I am, of course, fully CRB checked and carry the certificate with me at all times. Ask to see it, should you wish.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Which problems or conditions can I help with?
It’s not easy being a child. I’ve seen so many children as clients and have worked with so many problems. I’ve worked to help children overcome the effects of bullying, troubled relationships with siblings, parents, teachers, sports coaches and more.
I’ve helped them to overcome school refusal, OCD, exam anxiety, stage fright, conversion disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, depression and phobias.
That’s not all!
I also help young people who suffer the physiological consequences of stress and anxiety. IBS, eczema, nausea, obesity, bruxism and more.
Deal with these emotional problems and the problem generally disappears with little difficulty. Your child could increase confidence, bin stress, put a stop to trichotillomania, be free, happy and at peace with themselves once more.
I specialise in using a blend of therapies for clients with Asperger’s
My eldest daughter is on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum and it;s this which sparked my interest in the field. I researched it heavily, writing my dissertation on the topic, presenting on the topic and training others on how to work with autistic clients.
Parents come to see me from all over Berkshire and even further afield. Last year I was flown to France in order to work with a person on the spectrum. This happens because I’m one of very few people to have an understanding of ASD, a knowledge of children and a respectable qualification in the use of hypnotherapy.
Here’s how Resolved! Counselling for Children can help you
I help my ASD clients to develop resilience, social confidence, to overcome anxiety, depression, panic attacks, OCD, impulse control, ADD / ADHD and any number of other conditions. I help them to manage their anger and anxiety in order to avoid meltdowns. I help them to realise that having a label doesn’t mean that they are defined by that label.
I also have experience of working with children and young people diagnosed with pathological demand avoidance.
I love working with Asperger’s / High Functioning Autism. If your son or daughter would like some help then please do get in touch. I’ll be more than glad to hear from you.
My professional, warm and compassionate blend of therapies helps young people to feel happier in themselves every day. Let’s work together to do the same for your child
I have been working with children and young people since I first qualified as a psychotherapist. I’m now undertaking formal training to become a fully qualified child psychotherapist with Terapia, a well-renowned training organisation in Finchley, London. I began this training because people continually asked if I worked with children under the age of eight.
I didn’t, I couldn’t. I’d had no training. That’s no longer the case. If your young person is in need of help then I’m here and ready to begin working with them.
Give me a call whenever you’re ready and we’ll discuss how the work I do may be of help to you and your child.
I look forward to hearing from you.
