I really like wasps. I love bees to bits. Your son or daughter may never love them but they could be free of their phobia

It’s a pity that some people can’t find bees and wasps as beautiful and fascinating as I do. I’ve worked with many people (adults and the young) who have a fear of such creatures.
In Reading, Wallingford, Thame and Oxford there are people getting on with life perfectly happily because psychotherapy, mindfulness and hypnosis combined to free them of their fear. If your child or teenager is finding their live affected by spheksophobia or melissophobia then they could be freed from it too.

Summer can be a miserable time for people who suffer from these fears. The phobia of bees and / or wasps can mean spending the entire Summer indoors, missing out on family holidays, theme parks, picnics and much more besides.

It needn’t be this way any longer. I am a trained child and adolescent counsellor and combine this qualification with hypnotherapy to render being phobia-free a relatively quick and straightforward exercise. If your child or teenager is ready to be free of the fear of wasps or bees then I could help them to achieve their goals. Just get in touch and we’ll discuss how I could help them in a little more detail.

I also offer counselling and psychotherapy for the fear of wasps and bees online, using vsee, whatsapp, zoom. Please get in touch for details.

Why do some people fear wasps and bees?

A healthy respect for bees and wasps is a good thing. They do, after all sting sometimes. Perhaps your son or daughter developed their phobia after being stung when very young. Perhaps they have an allergy to the stings and so unconsciously decided to stay indoors and so take extreme measures to avoid the risk. Perhaps it’s a loved one who has the allergy and they were once scared on their behalf.

Did they ‘catch’ it from a parent or older sibling?

Young children are sponges. They look to older people for clues about the world around them. If you or another important person in their life is scared of bees or wasps then they will quickly see this and learn to share that fear. Perhaps they saw a friend being stung or saw a teacher freeze when a bee or wasp entered the classroom. There are so many ways in which children can pick up a phobia.

Did a wasp try to steal your child’s ice-cream?

fear of bees and waspsChildren and wasps have one thing in common: a mutual love of sugar. Bees love flowers as much as young children do too.

Perhaps your child acquired the fear of these lovely creatures when they brushed away a bee or wasp who wanted the same sweet food or flower. A sting can be a very quick way of learning to be afraid of bees and wasps. I still remember the pain of treading on a bee in my grandparent’s garden, in Cornwall, when I was six years old.

The good news, as I’ve already said, is that these fears can be unlearned. Your son or daughter can learn to be unfazed by these wonderful insects. Give me a call and we’ll discuss how I blend traditional forms of child and adolescent psychotherapy with my previous training in the use of hypnotherapy.

Your child can be free of this fear and the whole family can get back to enjoying times outdoors once more. Get in touch. I’ll be glad to help.

Free your child and free your family from living around a phobia

I’ve seen many families driven to despair, having to live around a family member’s phobia. The fear of bees or wasps can be truly crippling to a family’s ability to enjoy those all too brief months of sun and fun. It doesn’t have to be that way any longer. I could help to free your child from the fear and the whole family from imprisonment.
